Here is an email I received from a friend of mine who was inquiring as to the difference between some online firms and Total Window.
“Talking with my fiancée topic of blinds, you immediately pop up.
Thank you for thinking of me. My company and these online firms offer similar but vastly different offerings. I would say that the biggest pieces are product option, services, and pricing.
Total Window has the largest selection of products in the industry. We carry brands from all over the US. Many of these online firms offer private labeled products, and keep a small product offering. If you know the type of product that you want and have found it with these online companies, then this is not a big deal. But if you do not know what you are looking for, sometimes having a few options can be useful.
The online companies do not have ancillary services to support the product selection process or the installation process. You are usually on your own to measure and install and troubleshoot along the way. Sometimes they offer a recommended firm to call for performing these tasks, but I have found this limited. Total Window has teams dedicated to the consultation, specification, installation, and finishing of all our products. It is one less thing for you to think about.
Lastly, these online companies offer many products at a very low price point. There are a number of reasons for this that can be either positive or negative. The have low overhead, or they try to make up the revenue on volume… Total Window is definitely not the least expensive firm on the market place. Many of our products and services are competitive when you compare a true apples to apples (such as the specific type of fabric that matches both firms you are comparing), and I usually like letting people know of our price point difference. When you start to add product components and other things to any treatment the price gets higher than many had anticipated (no matter who is supplying the shades).
No matter your choice, I would be delighted to take a look at any of the proposals you are working with to share with you an honest insight into what you are being quoted, and if it is a good value for your investment.
